Software Development Model – PIP

Project Introduction:

This project aims to develop a robust, intuitive front-end user interface (UI) complemented by a flexible and reliable back-end system, as the goal is for the City of Kamloops – Property Information Portal to redefine how it allows its residents and businesses to engage regarding property-related information and services.

Current public-facing application: https://propertyinfo.kamloops.ca/

Development Model:

A hybrid of Agile and Waterfall:

  • Agile approach:
Weekly meetings with client-team to define weekly sprints and redefine requirements if required.
  • Waterfall Approach:
Must have functional requirements for Property Information Portal.

The reason I opted for the above approach is that there are two main aspects of the project:

  • Clearly defined design and functional optimizations/requirements by client:
Business owners had defined functional and non-functional requirements as ‘must have’ to enhance the user experience and usability of the application.
  • Iterative design and development process with early prototypes for key features, followed by sprint design and development.
  • Weekly Sprints – detailing work done last week and a team meeting addressing concerns with any aspect of the project or deliverable.

Planned Project Timeline:

This timeline was decided during the first sprint based on the client’s requirements Week 2- September – Sprint 1

Completed Milestones: Sprint 6 (current Sprint)
